EXCAVATION BEAULIEU & FILS

Residential · Commercial · Industrial Excavation

SAME NAME. SAME EXPERTISE. A NEW CHAPTER.

After more than 30 years in business, Excavation Beaulieu & Fils is entering a new chapter in its history. The imagined mandate: guide an established family business through a transition to new ownership and management while preserving the trust, expertise, and recognition built over generations.

STRATEGY · REPOSITIONING · BRAND IDENTITY · COPYWRITING · PUBLIC RELATIONS · WEB · SOCIAL MEDIA

01 — THE CONTEXT

AN ESTABLISHED BUSINESS. A NEW CHAPTER.

Founded in 1994, Excavation Beaulieu & Fils is an established family business serving the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. Over three generations, it has built its reputation on its expertise, its team, and the relationships developed with clients, suppliers, and partners.

The company is now reaching an important stage in its evolution: a change in ownership and management, while family members and the existing team remain involved in the business.

THE CHALLENGE

Modernize a business with more than 30 years of history without making it feel as though an entirely new company has taken its place.

The name has value. The reputation has value. The team, business relationships, experience, and recognition built over the years have value as well.

The mandate is therefore to evolve the brand while protecting this existing equity — and to prepare the transition so that the people who already know Beaulieu understand what is changing… and, more importantly, what is not.

You don’t start from scratch when you acquire 30 years of history.

BEFORE — THE INHERITED IDENTITY

Business card — Front · Business card — Back

Previous Facebook post
An example of the former digital presence: a visually crowded design, limited hierarchy, and an identity that was difficult to apply consistently.

An identity created for another era: photography incorporated directly into the logo, highly saturated colours, multiple typefaces, and limited flexibility for today’s digital applications.

02 — BRAND AUDIT

CHANGING EVERYTHING ISN’T ALWAYS THE RIGHT STRATEGY.

An established business already has recognizable elements that clients, employees, suppliers, and partners associate with it. Before modernizing its identity, the first step is to determine what still carries recognition and value, what needs to evolve, and what should be left behind.

WHAT TO PRESERVE

THE NAME
Beaulieu & Fils carries more than 30 years of recognition and reputation.

THE YELLOW
Already naturally associated with the industry, heavy equipment, and the company’s environment, yellow can become a true recognition code when used consistently.

THE EXCAVATOR
The symbol immediately identifies the company’s field of activity. Rather than eliminating it, it is simplified into a versatile graphic element.

“DEPUIS 1994”
Longevity isn’t something to hide during a transition. It is evidence of experience and staying power.

WHAT NEEDS TO EVOLVE

VISUAL COMPLEXITY
Photography incorporated into the identity limits both its usability and legibility.

TYPOGRAPHY
Too many competing elements and styles prevent the creation of a clear visual hierarchy.

THE PALETTE
Yellow remains, while secondary colours are removed in favour of a more distinctive system: yellow, black, and neutral tones.

APPLICATIONS
The identity must now work everywhere: from a business card to building signage, from a truck to a phone screen.

Modernizing doesn’t mean erasing. It means recognizing what already has value and giving it the tools to keep that value moving forward.

03 — STRATEGY & REPOSITIONING

EVOLVING THE BUSINESS WITHOUT BREAKING THE BOND OF TRUST.

The repositioning of Excavation Beaulieu & Fils is built around a simple principle: the transition must open the door to the future without creating a break from the past.

New management needs the freedom to establish its vision and modernize the company while reassuring the clients, employees, suppliers, and partners who have contributed to its success.

POSITIONING

An established, local, and experienced excavation company combining more than 30 years of know-how with a forward-looking direction.

A MULTI-STAGE TRANSITION

01 — INFORM
Communicate the change in ownership and management to those who already have a relationship with the company.

02 — REASSURE
Clearly explain what is changing — and what remains the same.

03 — PREPARE
Announce the upcoming new identity so that discovering it does not become the announcement of the change itself.

04 — REVEAL
Introduce the new identity and explain why it is evolving.

05 — ROLL OUT
Gradually deploy the brand across the website, vehicles, signage, job sites, and digital communications.

04 — COMMUNICATIONS & PUBLIC RELATIONS

BEFORE CHANGING THE IMAGE, TALK TO THE PEOPLE.

A change in ownership affects far more than a company’s visual identity. Clients, suppliers, partners, and collaborators already have a relationship with the business — sometimes one built over many years.

Communication should therefore come before the rollout of the new identity. The objective is to inform people directly, reassure them about business continuity, and prepare each audience for the changes ahead.

For Excavation Beaulieu & Fils, a sequence of communications was developed so that the new identity would never become, on its own, the announcement that something significant had changed.

01 — CLIENTS

ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE CHANGE IN OWNERSHIP

An initial communication to existing clients announces the transition before any visible changes are made to the brand. The message acknowledges the company’s history, introduces the next chapter, and reassures clients about the continuity of the team, expertise, and service.

02 — SUPPLIERS & PARTNERS

TRANSITION NOTICE

A more administrative communication is sent to suppliers and business partners to confirm the change in management, continuity of operations, and the contact information to use as of the effective date.

The tone and information are adapted to their relationship with the company: less promotional, more operational.

03 — CLIENTS

NEW BRAND IDENTITY REVEAL

A second communication accompanies the rollout of the new identity. It explains why the brand is evolving, introduces the new visual cues, and reinforces what is not changing.

The visual transformation therefore becomes the visible result of a transition that has already been explained, rather than the first indication that a significant change has taken place.

Inform → Reassure → Prepare → Reveal

Communication should accompany change. It shouldn’t have to catch up with it.

05 — VISUAL IDENTITY

AN IDENTITY THAT EVOLVES WITH THE BUSINESS.

The new Excavation Beaulieu & Fils identity preserves the brand’s most meaningful elements — the name, the excavator, the yellow, and the year the company was founded — while simplifying them to create a more modern, cohesive, and versatile system.

The result: an identity strong enough to be recognized in the field, yet flexible enough to work across all of the company’s communication tools.

01 — THE LOGO

DEPUIS 1994 turns the company’s longevity into a genuine marker of trust.

The excavator remains at the heart of the symbol but is transformed into a simple, distinctive icon. The typographic hierarchy places the emphasis on BEAULIEU & FILS, while EXCAVATION immediately identifies the company’s field of activity.

02 — THE COLOUR PALETTE

Yellow, already deeply associated with excavation and heavy equipment, becomes the brand’s primary recognition element.

Paired with black and neutral tones, it moves beyond being simply a colour associated with the industry and becomes a consistent visual brand code.

03 — TYPOGRAPHY

04 — THE VISUAL SYSTEM

The system creates a consistent presence without requiring the logo to be reproduced in exactly the same way across every application.

The identity relies on a deliberately direct visual language: on-site photography, strong contrasts, bold headlines, generous space, and the strategic use of yellow.

Recognizable on a business card.
Recognizable on a screen.
Recognizable from 100 metres away on a job site.

06 — BRAND APPLICATIONS

IN THE FIELD

AN IDENTITY DESIGNED TO BE SEEN.

In the excavation industry, a brand identity doesn’t live only on a screen. It needs to be recognizable on the road, on a job site, and at every client touchpoint.

The visual system was therefore extended across multiple applications to create a cohesive, distinctive, and immediately identifiable presence.

APPLICATION 01 — VEHICLE FLEET

Yellow becomes a powerful brand marker in the field, while black provides clear identification and strong visibility from a distance.

APPLICATION 02 — EXTERIOR SIGNAGE

A PRESENCE THAT TAKES ITS PLACE.

The identity extends into the company’s physical environment through simple, strong, and immediately recognizable signage. The contrast between black and yellow allows the brand to maintain its industrial character while gaining visibility and professionalism.

APPLICATION 03 — JOB SITE SIGNAGE

THE BRAND, WHERE THE WORK HAPPENS.

On a job site, every presence becomes an opportunity to reinforce brand recognition. The banner uses the brand’s distinctive yellow and brings together essential information in a visible, practical format designed for the field.

APPLICATION 04 — SOCIAL MEDIA

AN IDENTITY THAT REMAINS RECOGNIZABLE — EVEN IN THE FEED.

The visual system also extends to social media, creating consistency between the field and the digital environment. Job-site photography, distinctive yellow, strong typography, and concise messaging make the brand quickly recognizable, even before the logo is noticed.

07 — WEBSITE

A DIGITAL PRESENCE THAT REFLECTS THE BUSINESS IT REPRESENTS.

The modernization of the brand continues online with a web presence designed to reflect both the company’s experience and its new direction.

The architecture brings together its history, services, expertise, completed projects, and business transition within a clear, action-oriented experience.

More than a showcase for its services, the website plays a direct role in Beaulieu’s repositioning by creating a cohesive connection between its history, its expertise, and its new chapter.

The objective: allow existing clients to immediately recognize the company they know while offering prospective clients a clear, modern, and action-oriented experience.

08 — THE RESULT

MODERNIZE WITHOUT ERASING.

The repositioning of Excavation Beaulieu & Fils demonstrates that an established business doesn’t need to reject its past in order to prepare for its future.

By preserving the elements that already carry value — the name, experience, team, history, and key visual cues — the new identity allows the company to evolve while remaining recognizable to those who have trusted it for years.

From the communications surrounding the change in ownership to the rollout of the brand across the web, vehicles, building signage, job sites, and social media, every intervention serves the same objective: maintaining continuity while giving new management the tools it needs to build what comes next.
